Florida Gators Take Second Win Over Auburn

Florida’a four game losing streak is now a distant memory as the Gators kicked off another win streak on Saturday.

The Gators jumped out to a 4-0 lead, thanks to a three-run homer by Stephanie Tofft and an additional run by Taylore Fuller off of a Kelsey Stewart RBI.

The Tigers tied the game with a pair of two-run home runs in the fourth, but the Gators had more in the tank. Kirsti Merritt’ solo shot put Florida back up 5-4.

A single in the fifth plated another run for Auburn, but Merritt’s second home run of the night gave UF a 6-5 lead.

An insurance run from Jessica Damico came as a result of Taylor Schwarz’s single; Damico pinch ran for Lauren Haeger. The Tigers earned one more run, but the Gators (33-8) held on for a wild 7-6 win.

Game three of the series will be played Sunday at 1:00.
