Big Sixth Inning Pushes Gators Past Tigers

The Florida Gators (32-8) entered Friday night’s game riding a disappointing four-game losing streak, and in the home half of the sixth inning, found themselves starring in the face of a fifth straight loss.

Aubree Munro hit a leadoff double in the third and was batted in by Kelsey Stewart to give the Gators a 1-0 lead. That was the extent of the scoring before an action packed sixth inning.

Auburn tied the game with a double, then surged ahead with a run scoring single. Florida found themselves six outs away from another tough loss.

In the bottom of the sixth pinch runner Jessica Damico scored to tie the game on a single from Taylore Fuller. The action continued when Munro recorded her second double of the game, this one scored Taylor Schwarz and Fuller. That 4-2 lead proved to be the final score.

Hannah Rogers (15-6) earned the win after allowing just three hits and one free pass in seven inning; she struck out six Tigers.

The Gators have an opportunity to clinch the series on Saturday at 5:00.
