In their first rubber match of the season the Florida Gators (24-1, 2-1) shut out the Ole Miss Rebels 2-0 in Gainesville.
Florida did their damage off a pair of solo homers by Stephanie Tofft and Chelsea Herndon. Tofft’s hit kicked off the game in the first inning, and Herndon’s insurance run gave the Gators some breathing room in the fifth.
Freshman Delanie Gourley (9-0) pitched the three-hit game in her first SEC start, and posted her second win of the weekend.
The Gators will head to LSU next weekend, but will first play a double-header against Mercer on Wednesday at 4:00 and 6:30 in Gainesville.
