Florida Gators Come From Behind, Defeat Boston College Eagles to Remain Unbeaten

The undefeated Florida Gators had a close call last night at home against Boston College before finally putting them away by a score of 7-3.

The Gators found themselves in a 2-0 deficit before getting things going offensively in the fourth inning. Stephanie Tofft and Taylor Schwarz each got big hits to help tie the game, and the rest of the team kept the pace, scoring two runs in the fifth and three in the sixth.

The Eagles managed one more run in the top of the seventh, but they were unable to mount more of a comeback.

Hannah Rogers (9-0) earned the win while Lauren Haeger picked up her first save of the season. Just hours before the first pitch Haeger was named the SEC Player of the Week for her performance in Orlando last weekend. During that stretch Haeger defeated Ohio State by allowing a single run on only three hits; at the plate she scored seven runs, four of which were homers, and she posted 11 RBI while hitting at a clip of .412. This is Haeger’s third weekly conference honor, twice being Player of the Week, and once as Pitcher of the Week.

Fans of the University of Florida are excited that both the softball and men’s basketball teams hold the nation’s top ranking, and now both teams are riding a 22-game win streak.

Florida will open up SEC action this weekend by hosting Ole Miss, beginning at 6:00 on Friday evening.
