Florida Gators Clinch SEC Regular Season Championship

The Florida Gators won’t be cutting down the nets Thursday night in the O’Connell Center but they did clinch the SEC Championship without playing a game. Florida would win the SEC title with a Kentucky loss versus Arkansas and just that happened. The Razorbacks beat the Wildcats 71-67 in overtime, all while J.Cole and Chance the Rapper were performing in the O’Dome. Many of the Gators student athletes were at the concert and now they have something to celebrate. Next up will be the tournament, and you can find tickets for the SEC Tournament available from PrimeSport.

The 2014 title is the seventh regular season conference championship for the men’s basketball team. Florida’s won the regular season championship three out of the past four years. The Gators have set a school record with 15 SEC wins and counting this year. Florida will finish out the regular season hosting LSU Saturday, traveling to South Carolina Tuesday, then finishing up with Kentucky at home on Senior Day. The Gators also received good news Thursday when they found out freshman point guard Kasey Hill will be available for Saturday’s tilt against the Tigers.
