With Matt Jones out, Mack Brown slid into the starting role but more impressive has been true freshman Kelvin Taylor. The son of Fred Taylor, he has provided an energetic spark to an otherwise stagnant offense.
Taylor has averaged 6.1 yards per carry so far this season, far above the rest of Gator running backs. Over the last two games he has rushed 26 times for 126 yards and a touchdown. Yesterday, the Belle Glade, FL product averaged 6.2 ypc and was very decisive when running up field.
Frustrating for fans, after Taylor rushed well on a drive against Missouri, and capped it off with a 20 yard touchdown run, Muschamp didn’t go back to him much. But clearly, the Gators were producing better with him on the field.

The way this season has been going, don’t be surprised if Kelvin Taylor starts sometime down the road. After looking strong against Toledo, Mack Brown has cooled off. He accumulated 19 yards on eight carries against Missouri. He just isn’t looking that explosive, especially on plays to the outside.
