In their first night game in the Swamp since 2011, the Gators ignored a slow started and rolled over SEC foe Arkansas.
Thanks to Solomon Patton, Tyler Murphy, starting his first game at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, threw for 240 yards and 3 touchdowns. Patton accounted for two of those touchdowns (one for 51 yards and another for 38 yards); he caught six passes for 124 yards on the night. His yards after catch was absolutely ridiculous, making Razorback defenders look silly.
With Florida initially struggling to stop the run, Arkansas jumped out to an early 7-0 win. They began to regain their tight defense, but did allow a season high 121 rushing yards. After a Brad Phillips field goal, Loucheiz Purifoy returned his first career interception to the house to put the Gators up 10-7. Austin Hardin had a very low field goal blocked and was benched for Phillips. Hardin still was in charge of kick off duties though.
In a Urban era throwback, Murphy tossed an inside shovel pass to Valdez Showers for a 9 yard touchdown.
Both Jonotthan Harrison and Dante Fowler Jr. got an ear full from Muschamp in the second half. Harrison was ejected for “shoving a ref” while Fowler was penalized for a late hit on the quarterback on a play that would have forced Arkansas to punt.
