2016 Power Forward John Mooney Commits To Florida

2016 power forward John Mooney committed to Billy Donovan and the Florida Gators today.

Mooney is a 6-8 power forward out of Altamonte Springs, Florida. The Lake Brantley player becomes the first 2016 commit for Donovan and the Gators. Florida already has Kevarrius Hayes in the class of 2015 along with Brandone Francis and Chris Chiozza in the class of 2014.

During the AAU season, Mooney plays for the same program that Chandler Parsons and Nick Calathes did: Nike Team Florida.

There isn’t much about Mooney on the internet but according to Daniels’ source, Florida got a good one.

Both 2013 Florida commits, Kasey Hill and Chris Walker, were McDonald’s All Americans this year. Although, Walker is not yet enrolled due to academic problems.

With Will Yeguete and Patric Young graduating after this year, Donovan will not be able to get his hands on enough consistent forwards/centers.

According to Daniels, Mooney says “This is a dream come true.”
