Bait & Bits: UGA Fan Cries, Upper Dekker, NFL Cuts

Joy R. Absalon-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to Bait & Bits, a new series on Hail Florida Hail that will will feature one “bait” about an opposing school and some bits about the Gators. Enjoy.

Bait

  • If you didn’t already have a plethora of reasons to make fun of Georgia fans, here you go. A Dawgs fan called in to The Night Cap on 92.9 The Game (Atlanta) and proceeded on a tirade about why Mark Richt needs to be fired and how the whole season is down the drain. All while balling his eyes out. Enjoy.

Bits

  • Former Florida baseball player Matt Den Dekker (Mets) hit his first major league home run yesterday. In the second inning, he hit a solo shot against the Nats, living up to his Twitter handle @UpperDekker. SportsCenter noticed too.

Watch the long ball here:

  • Many NFL teams were forced to make cuts this weekend in order to slim down to 53 players. Many former Gators were cut, most famously Tim Tebow. Bill Belichick and the Patriots cut ties with the former Heisman winner; many know believe he has played his last game of football. Others cut: David Nelson (Browns), Omarius Hines (Packers), Frankie Hammond Jr. (Chiefs), Xavier Nixon (Redskins), Chas Henry (Buccaneers), Jaye Howard (Seahawks) but claimed by Chiefs, Earl Okine (Texans), Max Starks (Chargers), Jermaine Cunningham (Patriots)
