Florida Gator Baseball Throws First Pitch Tonight Versus Duke

The Florida Gators baseball team begin the 2013 season this afternoon at home against the Duke Blue Devils as they begin a three game weekend series. Coming off a third straight College World Series berth, the Gators (45-20 last season) will seek to replace a lot of their major stars of the last few years including national player of the year Mike Zunino.

Junior RHP Johnathan Crawford (6-2 3.13 era last season) will be the opening day starter for the Gators opposite LHP Trent Swart (4-8 4.48 era). Game two starters are RHP Tucker Simpson, making his collegiate debut for the Gators against junior Blue Devil RHP Drew Van Orden (0-4 5.82). New Gators starter sophomore Justin Shafer will face off in the finale versus junior RHP Robert Huber (4-6 5.19).

First pitch tonight from McKethan Stadium is scheduled for 7 pm eastern. Saturday’s game is scheduled for 4 pm eastern and Sunday’s series finale is scheduled for noon eastern.
