Breaking: Scottie Wilbekin Suspended Indefinitely

March 24, 2012; Phoenix, AZ, USA; Florida Gators guard Scottie Wilbekin (5) dribbles the ball against the Louisville Cardinals during the first half in the finals of the west region of the 2012 NCAA men

At today’s media conference aboard the USS Bataan, site of tomorrow’s season opener in the Navy-Marine Corps classic, Florida Gator Basketball head coach Billy Donovan announced that starting point guard Scottie Wilbekin will be suspended for tomorrow’s game and perhaps longer.  Donovan gave no timetable for the suspension and didn’t directly specify the reason saying,

“Scottie is a great kid who made some choices and did some things that I am not going to have him be a part of.  How long it lasts, I don’t know. But right now, I just felt like he didn’t need to be here.”

Donovan did go on to say it is not related to NCAA violations or criminal charges.

So now they’ll turn to Kenny Boynton to fill in at point guard and either freshman Michael Frazier will open at shooting guard or they’ll switch Mike Rosario over to guard and slide Will Yeguette in at small forward for tomorrow nights game.
