The No. 1 Florida Gators keep winning and we’re running out of new headlines. We’ll deal with that on our own though and be comforted by the fact that with every passing game the baseball squad looks championship caliber.
On Saturday, the Gators took down the Vanderbilt Commodores 5-1 for their second win in two days over their SEC foe. While Florida continues to look better and better, Vandy appears to have fallen off of a cliff. Considering how well the Gators played last season, it’s not necessarily a case of two teams headed in different directions, but it sure feels that way.
Two innings was all the Gators needed. Two innings to manufacture all of their runs and do in the Commodores. Daniel Pigott and Preston Tucker each drove in two runs and Tucker his his seventh homerun of the season. The win went to Brian Johnson who didn’t allow a single run in six innings.
The ‘Dores get one more shot at the Gators on Sunday, but we’re not entirely sure if they want it.
