No. 1 Spot Becoming Home For Florida Gators Baseball

The Florida Gators have set up camp in the No. 1 spot and aren’t leaving anytime soon. Since the season began, the Gators have been on top of the Baseball America Top 25 Rankings and that’s where they remain after an impressive week.

Florida had a perfect week after sweeping then No. 12 Miami over the weekend. The three wins pushed the Gators’ record to 10-1 and meant they were the only team in the top five to have an undefeated week. Stanford, South Carolina, Arkansas and Rice all has one-loss weeks, which of course only helps Florida hold on to the top spot.

The top 10 remained the same with the exception of one flip. North Carolina and Georgia Tech switched places in the No. 8 and No. 9 spots. Even though Texas, Texas Christian and Baylor all fell out of the top 25, Clemson had the biggest fall from No. 15 to No. 20. With three teams from the lone star state dropping out of the rankings, one jumped in. Texas State was unranked last week, but came in this time around at No. 21. Mississippi State and Maryland were also new to the top 25 at No. 23 and No. 25 respectively.

It’s a five-game week for the Gators, giving Florida plenty of chances to improve on their record before SEC play.
