Florida Gators Drop To No. 13 In Coaches Poll And No. 16 In AP

A win full of turnovers followed by a loss to one of the SEC’s cellar dwellers wasn’t exactly what the Florida Gators had planned for last week. Entering the final week of the regular season with four extremely questionable losses wasn’t either.

A 1-1 week with that bad loss to Georgia came to an official close when the new men’s basketball rankings were released on Monday. Florida fell from No. 11 to No. 13 in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll. The fall was even further in the AP Poll as the Gators dropped from No. 12 to No. 16.

We can argue that rankings don’t matter, but the perception of a team as they climb or fall them do. Falling as the Gators did is not what you want anyone to see as the NCAA Tournament approaches. Florida is still a tourney team, but didn’t do itself any favors last week. The Gators will need a strong final week and possibly an even stronger SEC Tournament to get back on track.

Rankings are debatable, but let us know what you think of the Gators. Vote in our tourney poll in the sidebar.
