Florida Gators 5 – William & Mary Tribe 3; Gators Complete Sweep

The weather in Florida on Sunday may have stopped the Daytona 500, but it couldn’t stop the No. 1 Florida Gators. The Gators completed their sweep of the William & Mary Tribe with a 5-3 win. The game was shortened due to heavy rain, but it still counts and moves Florida to 7-1 on the season.

Senior Preston Tucker played well again, as if you’re surprised. He hit his team-leading fifth homerun and drove in his eighth run (also a team-high). Not to be outdone, junior Nolan Fontana hit his first homerun of the season, a two-run shot in the third.

The Gators have a nice break during the week before a three-game weekend series against the No. 14 Miami Hurricanes in Coral Gables, FL. It will be the first road trip of the season for Florida.
