by Florida Gators Baseball

The No. 1 Florida Gators baseball team started the week off right with an 8-6 win over the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats on Tuesday night. The win moved the Gators to 3-1 on the young season.

Junior Mike Zunino replicated his last performance against the Wildcats with two homeruns. He had solo shots in the second and seventh innings. The Gators have hit five homeruns so far this season and all five have been with the bases empty.

Freshman Taylor Gushue continued his hot start to his first season, going 2-for-5 with one RBI. Gushue also got his first start behind the plate.

Despite the two homeruns from Zunino, senior Preston Tucker is still the MVP of the season after another game. Tucker had the game-winning RBI in the eighth. He’s now only one away from trying Brad Wilkerson’s career school record of 214.

The Gators are right back in action on Wednesday night against No. 19 UCF.
