Gators Receive Commitment From Dillan Lawson; Linebacker Joins 2013 Class

by Florida Gators Football

Dillan Lawson joined the Florida Gators’ 2013 recruiting class on Saturday, pledging his commitment to come to Gainesville. The 6’4″, 215-pound linebacker from Crestview, FL (Crestview) may be considered “unknown” by some recruiting services at this point, but with plenty of time left in the 2013 cycle, Lawson has a great deal of time to make a name for himself.

As if Junior Day wasn’t good enough already to the Gators, Lawson became the fourth linebacker on Florida’s current commitment list. Will Muschamp seems to have employed the Texas way of recruiting as he heads toward his second season as the Gators’ head coach, and Lawson wanted to join the party.

247Sports has Lawson listed as a three-star outside linebacker ranked No. 26 overall at the position.

Admittedly, I don't know anything about Lawson, so my sports knowledge has definitely increased by learning about this linebacker. After a thorough search, he seems gifted enough and could be a legit starter for the Gators. He is a no-name right now, but I agree that he is a darkhorse recruit who isn't far from the Ducks very own Cody Carriger at DE. He isn't a star, but he can definitely be a solid OLB and is at least one of the best 40 at his position; solid three-star recruits at linebacker are always in need.

SorianoJoe Agree completely. He's not a name now, but already has great size and the Gators will have a need at the position. He could be one of the ones that climbs the charts as the cycle progresses.
