The No. 1 Florida Gators were able to get victories in the first two games of their weekend series with the No. 25 Cal State Fullerton Titans, but a third win wasn’t in the cards. Two four-run innings were the difference as the Titans took game three 8-5.

The 2-1 Gators led 3-0 heading into the fifth inning, but allowed four runs in two straight innings to the 1-2 who took a big lead into the final third of the game. Florida got two runs back late, but it wasn’t enough as the Gators were handed their first loss of the young season.
The Titans were led by first baseman Carlos Lopez and designated hitter J.D. Davis three hits and three RBI each. The eight runs and 15 hits by Cal State Fullerton were enough to force Florida into using eight pitchers on the day.
Florida won’t win them all, but going 2-1 against the No. 16 team in the nation is a good start to what will surely be a great season.
