Gators Jump Four Spots In Both Polls; Florida Ranked No. 7/8

The Florida Gators took advantage of a few upsets to move up four spots in both major polls. Florida jumped from No. 11 to No. 7 in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll and from No. 12 to No. 8 in the AP Poll. The Gators upcoming opponent – the Kentucky Wildcats – remained No. 1 in both polls for a third-straight week.

The last time Florida appeared in the top 10 was a No. 10 ranking in both polls during the week of December 26. And the last time the Gators were ranked as high as they are now was when the spots were reversed – No. 7 in the AP Poll and No. 8 in the Coaches’ Poll – during the week of November 14. A win over Kentucky would solidify Florida’s spot in the top 10, while a loss probably wouldn’t do much to hurt it.

What we’ll really be talking about soon – if we aren’t already – is NCAA Tournament seeding and then rankings will be an afterthought. On that note, go ahead and tell us where you think Florida will end the 2011-12 season. There’s a poll to the right; just keep scrolling and you’ll find it.
